CRANE & EQUIPMENT TRANSPORT 101:
CRANE SHIPPING | COST, LOAD, PILOT & MORE
The cost of transporting a crane depends on various factors. The type of crane, the crane dimensions, weight and height are just a few factors that can affect the cost of transporting a crane, its equipment and accessories. Cranes are generally considered a ODL - Overdimensional Load, so permits are almost always mandatory, few cranes can be transported as a Full Legal Load or Full Truck Load, these cranes do not require permits if it can meet all FLL and FTL requirements.
Certain cranes may require load assistance, usually a crane may be loaded onto its transport using its own force or with the assistance of forklifts or may even require other cranes to load the crane on the carrier trailer. This also affects price. Cranes are usually oversized or over dimensional cargo so another factor that affects costs would be transport aids such as escort vehicles and pilot vehicles during transportation as well as the assistance from local law enforcement and emergency vehicles.
